Cache Creek Overflow-Evacuation Order

Inclement Weather has become a threat to the Sand Canyon community. The single access road to the neighborhood will be impassible with the anticipation of Cache Creek washing over Pine Canyon Rd.

An Evacuation Order is in effect in the Sand Canyon area within Genasys Protect Zone 170-A

An Evacuation Warning is in effect in the City of Ridgecrest area within Genasys Protect ZONE RDG 827-B:

During an evacuation warning, all residents are advised to be prepared to leave the area quickly if it becomes necessary. Those who require additional time to evacuate and those with pets and livestock should leave now.

The recent storms have brought excessive rain that has saturated the soil creating erosion and instability.  RIDGECREST ROADWAYS AND OUTLYING AREAS ARE HIGHLY DANGEROUS AT THIS TIME DUE TO RAPIDLY DETERIORATING CONDITIONS. WE ARE ADVISING ALL RIDGECREST RESIDENTS TO STAY OFF THE ROADWAYS. Because conditions could change at any time, and with more rain in the forecast, you should remain alert, be aware of your surroundings, and be prepared to take action to protect your family and animals if it becomes necessary.

Inclement Weather has become a threat to areas near Sand Canyon Community. A Shelter in Place is in effect in the Sand Canyon Community area within ZONE(S) 167, 170-B and 169.

The communities and neighborhoods that are included in this Shelter in Place advisory are:

North of Hwy 58

East and West of Sand Canyon Rd

KERN MOUNTAIN COMMUNITIES BURN SCAR ADVISORY: If you live, work in, or are visiting Kern County Mountain Communities (Zone(s) KRN-101, 115, 177, 527, 529, 531, 533, 535, 541, 565, 705, 707-713, 718-725, 727, 728, 738, 740, 741, 801) please pay close attention to this message: Residents in Kern County Mountain Communities near recent burn scars are urged to be alert to the possibility of soil instability (landslides or mudslides) during and after forecasted heavy rains. If you have an emergency or a sudden shift in soil is observed, call 9-1-1.
